after you install Chinese related packages and select ibus as your input
method, you should run ibus-setup to pick one IME you prefer. After that
you will have ibus work correctly. ibus will set the default IME first
time according to your system locale, and I suppose you were using en or
any non-zh locales before, then ibus didn't set ibus-pinyin as your
default IEM, you gonna do it manually.
