thanks for looking into this, I appreciate. I am happy that we found a bug.
I wish I could contribute more than just testing.
I booted Kubuntu 10.10 with nomodeset (and also removed quiet and splash).
The screen becomes black with a blinking cursor top left. The CD drive stops
turning and everything stays there.
