Binary package hint: software-center
Starting a vanilla flavour xubunto 10.10, downloaded yesterday with
"install upgrades" checked, I today started the "program central for
ubuntu", where I chose the "Putty terminal emulator - Version
0.60+2010-02-20-1 (pterm)".
This downloads, installs etc, all seams fine. There is a link created in
"Programs - Accessories. ..." just as the text states.
But when clicking this short cut, only a regular terminal window with a command
promopt starts thus "no Putty"...
As an alternative, I have installed Putty using "regular old methods"
(well, at the command prompt, I wrote "putty" - the system answered with
something "you must install putty using the command: sudo .... install"
- I followed the instruction and all worked fine.
I'm filing this report to help adjusting the fine "program central" that
obviously still has some corners to round off to have a smooth function!
