Hey Daniel: Thanks for responding. I wanted to set Mic Boost to a non-zero value, but i couldn't figure it out. I read the amixer man page. I also asked on irc #alsa, and searched the web, but couldn't find anything. in fact, when i run amixer, the only thing that shows up are the output and "capture", no Mic Boost is listed. I'd love to set mic boost to non- zero, but i am presently unable to gain the knowledge to do so.
