Hi D. Roberts, thank you for taking the time to file this bug report and
help us make Ubuntu better.
There are a number of concerning error messages in DpkgTerminalLog.txt
that make me think your system's packaging data may be corrupted:
dpkg: warning: files list file for package `libio-string-perl' missing,
assuming package has no files currently installed.
This is repeated over and over. Has anything happened to your system to
cause filesystem damage?
Marking Incomplete pending response from D Roberts.
