I just purchased the exact same machine and am also affected. I am running Debian Squeeze, which isn't quite Ubuntu, but I'd still like to resolve this problem.
I have also attempted removal of the wireless and wired networking drivers prior to suspension (module names wl and atl1e, respectively), but this does not help. The machine simply fails to resume. After the failed resume, SSH login from a remote machine does not work.
