I looked at:

and it appears this is a patch that was added to the mainline kernel in 2.6.16
(see changelog

Given that all our releaes (except 6.06 dapper) run with a version higher than
2.6.16
this is not a straightforward patch to sponsor. I remove the ubuntu-sponsors
for now, please
re-add this team if this patch is not actually applied in the ubuntu kernel for
8.04 and later
already for some reason.
