I have the same problem.

Laptop: Dell Latitute E5510
OS: ubuntu 10.04, current updated version (uname -a
Linux aa-i3 2.6.32-25-generic #45-Ubuntu SMP Sat Oct 16 19:52:42 UTC 2010
x86_64 GNU/Linux)

In addition that SD card reader does not work (does not recognise the
card), I found that:

if I keep the card inserted the system can completely freeze and require
hard reboot; going through logs suggested that mmc0: unknown interrupt,

Unfortunately, I am not experienced at all and I do not understand how to try a
possible fix suggested by CyberCastle at
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=596475

Can you please help me - what do I need to do in order to try to fix the
SD card reader problem?

Many thanks!
