Explanation of the Ubuntu change and why it can be dropped:

the only change in the Ubuntu package: "debian/postrm: Don't fail if
canna user is already deleted (LP: #569678) Thanks to Jean-Baptiste
Lallement for this patch." has been fixed in the latest Debian package.
