(Note: your /etc/asound.conf is unnecessary; we already ship something
similar.)

Can you try muting (press 'm' so that "MM" appears in) the following
mixer control using `alsamixer` in Applications > Accessories >
Terminal?

Simple mixer control 'Analog Mix',0
  Capabilities: pvolume pswitch penum
  Playback channels: Front Left - Front Right
  Limits: Playback 0 - 31
  Mono:
  Front Left: Playback 31 [100%] [0.00dB] [on]  <---
  Front Right: Playback 31 [100%] [0.00dB] [on]  <---

If making that change is insufficient, please try decreasing the Capture
and/or Mic levels.
