The only place i can reproduce this is when 10.10 is run natively on the
specific laptop hardware.  I have four identical laptops and it fails
the same way on each laptop.  However it runs cleanly on other hardware.
It also runs cleanly in a VM instance on the same laptop.  Hence my
suspicion that it is drvier related.

What it appears like is a tx buffer is filled and for ~10 seconds it
drains correctly to the network.  At that point the tx stops.  When the
VLC playback is stopped, the tx buffer is drained to the network and i
see those packets.
