Same issue for Ubuntu 10.10. Additionally, misleading bug messages arise when trying to install a theme that has already been installed, but does not show up on the list.
When using the theme installer (invocated e.g. from Firefox after downloading a theme file from gnome.org): "this file does not seem to be a valid theme file" (even though it obviously is, as it was "successfully" installed earlier and worked when set into immediate effect instead of opting to have it added to the list, what fails without warnig). When using gnome-appeareance-settings the following message gets shown: "Installation for theme '4DWM' failed." - "Can't move directory over directory". Still, while it might benefit the techy user, this does not help Joe Random. I've opened a bug in Gnome BTS as well: https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=635960 ** Bug watch added: GNOME Bug Tracker #635960 https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=635960 -- New themes doesn't appear on the themes list https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/452279 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
