Public bug reported:

when asked to authenticate when accessing the windows share on the
Ubuntu machine from the windows machine, it asks for user name and
password. the user name is your current but the password is not set
until you enter the following into the command line:

sudo smbpasswd -a 'myusername'

im assuming it should take the password from you user account as the
password, but if not you should be able to set this password up for the
samba server graphicaly under System > Administration > shared folders
without messing about in the terminal for such a simple task.

** Affects: samba (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: Unconfirmed
