Hmm... I'm not sure I totally understand your description of the problem.
Could you please elaborate and clarify? You may find it helpful to read "How
to report bugs effectively"

reporting guidelines at http://wiki.ubuntu.com/X/Reporting . A photo showing
your corruption might help.
Also, Karmic is a very old release and we mostly do not do any further
development of it - mostly only just security fixes now. So you should
re-test against Maverick at least, and preferably against natty (which
we are still developing)
