Public bug reported:

Audacity 1.3.12-2
Ubuntu 10.04.1 LTS

I expected Audacity to record sound through the Line 1 input. Presence
of sound a the input was confirmed by headphones; however when connected
to the MAYA44 soundcard, no volume was seen on the Audacity "led" meter,
and nothing was audible on playback.
