I had the same problem (Ubuntu 10.10). The following solved it for me: - remove evolution packages (evolution, evolution-exchange, evolution-data-server, libevolution, openoffice.org-evolution, evolution-common) - kill /usr/lib/evolution/e-calendar-factory
