Any other icons also moved along with nm-applet? I think this is instead
an issue with the panel or gnome-settings-daemon redrawing the panel
with widgets out of the specified order.

If you right click the icon (and uncheck "lock to panel", if it is
checked), can you then Move the system tray to a different position?

Also, please specify what you mean by using the wrong color scheme. Are
the colors really off or is the icon now draw completely differently (as
in a different icon altogether)?
