The install logs show the following message:

> Not replacing deleted config file /etc/samba/smb.conf
> Install/upgrade will fail. To recover, please try:
>  sudo cp /usr/share/samba/smb.conf /etc/samba/smb.conf
>  sudo dpkg --configure -a

This suggests you may have made local modifications which smb
was afraid to upgrade.  Assuming there is not a good reason for
/etc/samba/smb.conf to have gone missing originally, please follow
those steps and let us know whether it succeeds from there.
