Sorry, i don't quit understand the "... command line..." part. However,
i've installed XSane and gscan2pdf (that's what come up when i typed
"scanimage") via Ubuntu Software Center.

Windows 7 using Canon ScanGear:

Resolution: 300. No lines.
- http://i187.photobucket.com/albums/x312/kerina_yin/Scan10001.jpg ... 
Resolution: 300. No lines.

Simple Scan:
- http://i187.photobucket.com/albums/x312/kerina_yin/ScannedDocument4.jpg ... 
Resolution: 300. Lines present.
* re-scanned for comparison because of the new position of the scanned item.

XSane:
- http://i187.photobucket.com/albums/x312/kerina_yin/xsane300out.jpg ... 
Resolution: 300. No lines.
- http://i187.photobucket.com/albums/x312/kerina_yin/gscan2pdf2-12-2010_2.jpg 
... Resolution: 50. Lines present.

gscan2pdf:

... Resolution: 300. Lines present.

Is there any possibility that my scanner is dying on me instead of a
bug? *need to save-up for a new one*
