Public bug reported:

I only operate Ubuntu versions from USB sticks or from flash cards.
Whatever the version might be (Jaunty, Koala, Lucid, Maverick...) I get an
error when attempting to update the kernel (today from generic 2.6.32-24
towards 2.6.32.26) when asking update manager to do it.
I thought I could be confident in update manager...
I just clicked the option "linux-generic" (or so, since i'ts erased after the
error, I don't remember exactly).
There seems to be a problem with linux-image generation and with and invalid
path concerning grub (" /", as if a device has not been recognized as mounted).

Note: in this specific mode (ubuntu usb), the grub behavior seems
mysterious ( some commands indicated in tutorials for other topics
won't work).

Equipment: Asus eeePC 900. 10.04.1 LTS Desktop .USB stick.

(Same problem with 10.04 netbook remix).
