In the meantime Ubuntu 10.10, german version, all updates applied.

Shame on me - I just detected that I have to key in the MAC-Adress in the
network connection! Since the network (internet) worked from the beginning
without doing this (it was ubuntu that decided itself which of my two
network-adapters should be bound to which networkconnection) I didn't notice
that for specific configuration the mac of the nic (network interface card) has
to be configered in that networkconnection that should be used (together with a
manually set IP address).
Now the VNC-connection to ubuntu also works (again).

Remaining is problem as described in Bug #518051.

Gruß, Gerhard
