hi, Hidden files are sometimes called "dotfiles" because of the leading dot in the filename. In the hidden files in your directory are for instance your mailbox and your program settings (also the Gnome-settings). Desktop (gnome) settings can sometimes become pretty messed up an induce strange behaviour and they are also version dependent.
That is why i always move them to another directory when i do a fresh install.... after that i only move the necessary files back (for instance.....my mailbox). PM = Personal Mail / Private Mail You can mail me directly on [email protected] any time when you feel that the mail exchange no longer fit the purpose of launchpad-general-bug-reporting but for instance more becomes like personal case-problem solving ;-). This keeps launchpad clean and tidy.
