Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better.  One of the error messages you added to your bug report was
"Driver 'dmfe' does not support carrier detection. ^IYou must switch to
it manually.".  Carrier detection is the ability to determine if a cable
is connected to your adapter.  This would seem to be a limitation of
your network driver.  What type of card do you have?  Did you have any
issues like this with Edgy?  Thanks in advance.
