How to reproduce:

1. Open xchat
2. Menu > Settings > Preferences > Interface > Text box
3. Tick "Transparent background"
4. Click "OK"
5. A window pops up. It says: "Unable to set transparent background! You may be 
using a non-compliant window manager that is not currently supported."
6. Transparent background is not set.
