@Danny: you are wrong, the message has nothing to do with GRUB bootloader, it 
is printed by Ubuntu boot sequence.
(modbprobe is the command to load a linux kernel module).
I have this nasty message and I upgraded from 10.04, so the reason is not the 
one you explain.
As others have said, it is a timing issue in filesystem mounting during the 
boot sequence.
