** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: grub

- Booting my Samsung NC10 fails. After an ugly splash screen there's only
- a black screen. Changing to a terminal is not possible and trying this
- with the help of SysRq short cuts ends in a terminals without a shell.
- Shutting down is only possible by pressing the power key (short press
- for ACPI shutdown).

  If I edit the GRUB entry before booting and delete the line "set
  gfxpayload=$linux_gfx_mode" booting is successful.

  My grub.cfg contains exactly that line (I'll attach it). I guess
  "$linux_gfx_mode" is a variable that should be recplaced by its value
  but that didn't happen for some reason. So it seems to be a GRUB or
  update-grub problem.

+ This was a "clean" new installation after Kubuntu alpha 1 was released.
