Since BIOS doesn't announce that there is a mic at all, this is a shot in the dark, but let's assume that they connected it to the other mic input on the codec. So here's a package to test.
To test, do the following: 1) Make sure you don't have any ALSA driver overrides installed (such as the ones here: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Audio/InstallingLinuxAlsaDriverModules ). 2) Download and install this package: http://people.canonical.com/~diwic/temp/alsa-hda-diwic-et1602-dkms_1.0.23.diwic_all.deb 3) Reboot 4) Test. If it is not working, please supply an alsa-info ( https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Audio/AlsaInfo ) with the new package installed. Thanks! Wake, in addition, you said it was working under windows. Would it be possible for you to figure out if the internal mic is a part of the main soundcard or a separate card? It was a while since I used Windows, but try to see in the device manager if there is more than one audio device. Thanks! ** Changed in: alsa-driver (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed => Incomplete ** Changed in: alsa-driver (Ubuntu) Assignee: (unassigned) => David Henningsson (diwic) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/656237 Title: no working front mic on asus eeetop ET1602C -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
