I have tried that, but that's a workaround with problems of its own, not a fix -- namely, disabling one channel disables the noise cancellation ability, and so the resulting audio stream is full of noise. (By default both channels are on, so noise cancelling is done, but it's done wrong so the result is complete silence.)
