Thanks for the affirmative feedback regarding the sampling rate parameter.  
Unfortunately pulse has no way to detect that it *must* use this sampling rate, 
so I've marked this bug "wontfix" until one of the following occurs:
1) upstream determines, and implements, a method of automatically detecting and 
choosing such a sampling rate per sink and/or source;
2) upstream determines that this functionality must be resolved at a lower 
level, i.e., in the alsa-driver or alsa-lib portion of the stack.
