Can you attach your PPD files from /etc/cups/ppd/? First attach the file
which you are using currently (Brother HL2270DW for CUPS). It looks for
me like the correct Brother driver got assigned to your printer. Then
remove your print queues and uninstall all Brother drivers. Let the
printer get auto-detected and use the automatically selected driver.
Attach the PPD file which you have in /etc/cups/ppd/ then.Do this once
with USB and once with network connection.

Generate also an error_log as described in the "CUPS error_log" section
of https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingPrintingProblems for each case:
Brother driver, auto-selected driver, network, USB.
