In that case DRI2 will have nothing to do with it because the nvidia
driver uses its own system. Can you try using the nouveau driver (add
xorg-edgers repo, uninstall nvidia driver, install libgl1-mesa-dri-
experimental) and see if you have the same problem? Assuming nouveau
works correctly on your hardware, of course.
