Thank you for reporting this issue. I am running Xubuntu Natty here, and
was able to install xfdesktop4 about an hour ago.

Without any logs, I can not determine why you received this error. Could
you please attach ~/.xsession-error and the /var/log/dpkg.log as plain
text files?
