Public bug reported:

BTC 9001A keyboard, PS2 via KVM.

Fiesty installed from MinimalCD (which probably set terminal settings)
and then apt-get install ubuntu-desktop

LANG="en_NZ.UTF-8"

/etc/X11/xorg.conf says;

Section "InputDevice"
        Identifier      "Generic Keyboard"
        Driver          "kbd"
        Option          "CoreKeyboard"
        Option          "XkbRules"      "xorg"
        Option          "XkbModel"      "pc105"
        Option          "XkbLayout"     "us"
        Option          "XkbVariant"    "intl"
EndSection

Keyboard Preferences, using either

U.S English International (with dead keys)
U.S English Alternative International (former us_intl)

on a Generic 105-key (Intl) PC, when the ¨~¨, ¨`¨, ¨´¨ or ¨¨¨ keys are
pressed, the key combination twice to get the desired effect (very
annoying if you have it in a password and are using it with `su` which
doesnt report characters typed).

When out in a getty shell Ctrl+Alt+F1 etc, not in X, the keys work as
expected - first time. Back in X using gnome-terminal, gedit,
evolution, abiword, firefox the keys have to be pressed twice to obtain
the desired result.

Nice to see that the media keys on the keyboard now work, they didnt in
6.06 - its great to be able to mute change volume from the keyboard,
keep up the great work!
