See my bug report 688723. Sorry I didn't see this one earlier, but it seems to be the same problem, except I was trying to install a different Brother printer. Brother has a confusing procedure for installing drivers in 'buntu up to about 9.10, but no info on 10.10. Right now I can't install or uninstall any software.
