Public bug reported:

I am running Ubuntu 10.10 with 2.6.35-23-generic kernel with all of the
latest updates. The problem exists since I have upgraded to 10.04.
Sometimes the following commands helps:

killall pulseaduio
sudo /sbin/alsa force-reload
pulseaudio
but manz times not. Ususally I get this message after the reload:

htpc-u...@snow-htpc:~$ sudo /sbin/alsa force-reload
