Public bug reported:

Upgraded to 7.04 and kernel 2.6.20-9-386. Everything works fine. I got
some package updates last night that upgraded the kernel to 2.6.20-14
and instead of having /dev/hda3 I get /dev/sda3. The drive starts
showing tons of errors, mounts read-only, etc. If I select 2.6.20-9-386
from grub it still boots fine. I'll upload the two boot logs to this
bug.
