Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: transmission

Bug #543601 seems to report the same problem, but has already been
closed. Tried to use sudo ubuntu-bug to report this, but it would say in
my language something like "the specified pID does not belong to a
program". I've also checked /var/crash and there's no file in there.

Running Ubuntu 10.04, all updated, on a Core2Duo Dell Inspiron 1525. I
have plenty of disk space. Downloaded and uploaded lots of stuff using
Transmission. Then I've added another .torrent and ever since I haven't
been able to download anything. At fist the program seems to behave as
expected (connects to tracker, asks for peers, etc) but then freezes. I
click the button to close it and the window closes, but the process
keeps running and eating a lot of CPU. If I try to open Transmission
again, a dialog tells me I can't run transmission because it's running
but not responding, and I should first kill the running process. Opening
System Monitor, process status is Zombie, Memory N/A, Waiting channel
do_exit. I right-click it and tell to stop, terminate or kill process,
but nothing happens. On Terminal I try to use "kill -9 5948" (where 5948
is the process ID shown on System Monitor) but nothing happens. The only
thing I can do to kill this process is restart the computer.

** Affects: transmission (Ubuntu)
