Public bug reported: Binary package hint: update-manager
When upgrading to the alpha version of Natty Narwhal, the update-manager (distribution upgrade app) downloads all of the necessary files and proceeds to install. However, about half way through the installation process, an error message pops up and says that the update-manager could not upgrade due to an unexpected error. It gives a command that reads similar to the following: "Please report this bug against the 'update-manager' package and include the files in /var/log/dist-upgrade/ in the bug report. E:Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1), E:Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1), E:Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)" It then told me it was going to reverse the upgrade and return my original kernel, Maverick Meerkat. Other Info: apt-cache policy update-manager yields: update-manager: Installed: 1:0.145.9 Candidate: 1:0.145.9 Version table: *** 1:0.145.9 0 500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ natty/main i386 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status lsb_release -rd yields: Description: Ubuntu natty (development branch) Release: 11.04 ^^^^this is weird because when I go to System>About Ubuntu it tells me I am using Ubuntu Maverick Meerkat 10.10. Also update-manager told me it was reverting to its orignal state but it looks like it continued to install 11.04 anyways...? ** Affects: update-manager (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: alpha failed natty update upgrade -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/689352 Title: Update-Manager fails to upgrade to 11.04 alpha 1 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
