Thanks a lot for your idea and help to make ubuntu better.
There will be an animation showing the dash for alpha2. Please for such
suggestion, I think the ayatana mailing list is more suited than bug report.
So, I would say, wait for alpha2 to see the dash and share/raise your ideas on
the ayatana mailing list to discuss design :)
