Public bug reported:

hi,
why did my screen turned all black while reading internet news?
when it turned black, i tried to move the touchpad and the it is normal again
but
i noticed an additional icon on my upper panel.
i moved the cursor/mouse over and it says

" Session active, not inhibited ,screen idle."
If you can see this text, your display server is broken and you should notify
your distributor.
Please see
http://blogs.gnome.org/hughsie/2009/08/17/gnome-power-manager-and-blanking-removal-of-bodges/

what will i do ?
the icon appeared is square with 4 red arrows on corners, similar to icon of
"full screen view" of screensaver.
can i just delete the icon and not worry about it?

thanks ,
Gary

Title:
screen now dims when idle and always need to press Fn + F8 to brighten again.
before i just move mouse and the screen is bright again. the user name on upper
panel creates a white thick line beneath the name while pressing Fn+F8 to
adjust brightness.
