What do you mean by "printer setting"? What menu item do you click?

The system wide default paper size can be changed with the following command
from a terminal:
$ sudo dpkg-reconfigure libpaper1
** Changed in: hplip (Ubuntu)

Status: Unconfirmed => Needs Info
