This entry from /var/log/apt/history.log indicates which package upgrades were installed very shortly before I experienced this bug. However, while I have only experienced this problem since those upgrades were installed, I have also only experienced it once, so I am not claiming that it necessarily reflects a regression. Nothing here seems particularly related to pcmanfm, but I am certainly no expert on pcmanfm.
