This seems fine to me, because: Software center only shows applications by default, libraries and utilities are hidden, and can be shown using the link on the bottom of the search results page, showin 'x technical items'. When you search for tex or latex, the results will be all the applications that have tex or latex in their description, and are not technical items - that should be a list of all the editors that are capable of editing tex documents. When you are searching for tex live though, no applications are found, so technical items are displayed automatically instead of showing you an empty results page witha 'technical items' link on the bottom of the page.
Although some user-feedback , maybe a tip, or something saying that "no apps were found for 'tex live', showing all technical items" could improve the user experience. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/662261 Title: Searching for tex or latex doesn't show TeX Live -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
