Everybody can reproduce the bug any time in Lucid, Maverick, no matter whether i386 or amd64 by just doing:
apt-get install --reinstall libc6 and reboot. This causes the "orphaned inodes" upon shutdown (verified by examining the filesystem after shutdown).
