Just an additive point. When I arrive to the login prompt, which is not proposed in a graphic mode (meaning, X has not started yet), I enter my login and my password.
In order to start the graphic mode, I've tried to start X. So I wrote "startx", and then enter. The graphic mode starts, and the desktop appears.
