Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnusound

I opened the Gnusound interface and went to the configuration screen.
Jack was not running on the PC. After I selected Jack as the recording
method, the application reported "Unable to open input device."
Shortly afterward, the debug crash window appeared.

I was guessing that the application might have crashed because a test
to see that Jack is running could have been omitted from the code. Even
after starting Jack, I was still unable to record. The interface is
intuitive and easy to understand, but apparently is not fully functional
at the time of this writing. The problem might also be with my Jack
configuration.

Attempts to record with ALSA also produced a similar crash on my system.
I am running Ubuntu Edgy, with the very latest patches. This machine is
an Athlon XP system at 1.8 Ghz.

I don't know if the application has to be run by the root user or not.
I was running Gnusound as a non-root user when I experienced the above
problems. I was interested in using Gnusound to record streaming audio
from the Internet.

** Affects: gnusound (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: Unconfirmed
