I can confirm this as well.  This makes it hard to learn csound since this is a 
fairly often used feature.
I attempted to install csound 5 and completely trashed my gnome installation.
I will attempt to build from source.  Great!

Here is what occurs with any score that  uses gen01:
MOST tutorials for csound use gen01 by the way.

csound is dead in the water with this issue.
IT is inoperable in this condition.
IT DOES NOT WORK!
