After a kernel update released a version of kernel for which there wasn't daily alsa build, things went back to both mike sockets being selectable (good) and audio out of both headphone and speaker sockets whilst speaker selected (bearable).
Applying daily hides one of the mike sockets again and still has the problem of not being able to specifically target the headphone socket.
