First, thanks for your bug report and your patch to help to make ubuntu better.
I've already fixed it in the ubuntu-desktop team packaging branch as you can
see there:

Only the gnome-classic.desktop.in file needs to be translated. The other
files are gnome-session internal and there is no string to translate
then.
I'll then mark the bug as fix commited.
