Public bug reported:
I had a WinXP and Ubuntu (32-bit) dual boot machine. I wanted to
replace WinXP with Ubuntu 64-bit, so that I could try it out without
deleting my existing Ubuntu 32-bit installation.
I created a bootable thumb drive from the ISO, chose "Try Ubuntu" to
check it out, saw that everything looked good, then ran the "Intall
Ubuntu" application by double-clicking on the icon on the desktop (i.e.,
did not restart the machine).
I clicked on the two checkboxes to download proprietary stuff.
I chose the option to manage the partitions myself and deleted the WinXP
partition and reformatted it with Ext4 and chose / for the mount point,
then selected it for installation.
After downloading files it seemed about to finish, then I got a message
saying "Installer crashed", instructing me to file this bug report. It
said to include the following detail, but the message does not give any
details.
** Affects: ubuntu
